Trauma is what YOU experienced as trauma.
Other people may not have had a trauma response, but YOU did. That is ALL that matters.
Trauma is a response to an event and it lives in your mind and body.
The event happened many years or even decades ago, or it happened recently, it doesn’t matter which. The response that your mind and body created is what lives on, regardless of how long ago it happened.
You cannot reason your way through it.
You cannot release it out of your mind or body through talking about it (though it may help certain people in certain circumstances, to a certain extent, maybe as a first step – because you have never shared it with anyone and you can’t bear the burden on your own any more).
You cannot ignore it for ever.
You cannot push it down with food, alcohol, gambling, etc. (any type of addiction) – the feelings will never disappear with these ‘drugs’. They will just keep bobbing/jumping back up.
The ONLY ways to let go of trauma and all the maladaptive responses to it once and for all are:
- via the unconscious mind
- via the body (which is also where the unconscious lives)
This is where the two modalities I use in my sessions come in:
- Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), which combines talking therapy with tapping on specific acupressure points and/or
- Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT), which combines focusing on a feeling and a memory as I use specific finger movements for your eyes to follow and ask you specific questions
In just one trauma session, you will have accessed feelings and memories, and ways to release the trauma from your mind and body.
I also use NLP (Neuro-linguistic Programming) and energy techniques (Reiki and my own access to other energies) to make it a session that will be helpful and with long-lasting results.
You will feel tired but eventually rejuvenated and like you were shaken up to your core, free from at least some of the trauma.
In the case of birth trauma, for most people, the trauma is fully released in just one session.
In the case of trauma, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) or CPTSD (Complex PTSD), several sessions are needed, but no one can predict exactly how many. I normally say around 6, which is why I often offer my 6-session programme Feel the Freedom after the first 90-minute session.
PS: I did not ask ChatGPT to help me write this post, nor did I refer to official articles and websites. This comes from my own experience of trauma and that of my clients.
