Your word of the year

Unlike making New Year’s resolutions, picking a ‘word of the year’ is about thinking about the whole year ahead and how you want to FEEL as you go through the days, weeks and months.

To me, because of what I do and am passionate about, the way you feel as you live your life is much more important than what you accomplish (releasing weight, running three times a week, even writing a book (gasp!), etc.). And you may well accomplish those things anyway! You probably will, if you focus on how you feel and want to feel – good, energised, proud, etc.

When you choose your word of the year, ideally it can be applied to all areas of life, including work/business and family.

The reason one may want to choose such a word is so that it’s easy to make decisions. The word is like your guiding light in all your choices.

My word of the year is PEACE. I want to feel peaceful and at peace – with all my choices, in my body, in my mind, in my spirit, with my family, with my friends, with my work, with the people I meet. I also want peace on earth (but I know that’s unlikely to happen in my lifetime, let alone this year…). I want peace in my writing.

I want peace peace peace!

So the test when I make decisions this year will be the question, ‘Will this make me or help me feel peaceful/at peace?’

So tell me…

  • How do you want to feel?
  • What is your word of the year?
  • What will be your guiding light and your question?
